Trenchtown Cat proves much the best in Gulfstream Park’s Ana T. Stakes

Daughter of Discreet Cat cruises to her second Stakes victory

Trenchtown Cat put away favored Razorback Lady in the stretch and drew off to win the $75,000 Ana T. Stakes by three-and-three-quarters-of-a-length at Gulfstream Park 25 May.

It was the second Stakes win for the three-year-old daughter of Discreet Cat. Earlier this year she took the Sanibel Island Stakes on the turf at Gulfstream Park.

After bobbling slightly at the start, Trenchtown Cat quickly recovered to settle into second, just behind the leader Razorback Lady. Trenchtown Cat then drew alongside to apply pressure to her rival late in the backstretch. The pair matched strides through the far turn and continued to battle into the upper stretch. Trenchtown Cat then took command with a furlong to run and drew off for an impressive victory.

Bred in Kentucky by Winchester Farm, Trenchtown Cat is out of Chez La Femme, a winning daughter of Afternoon Deelites. Trenchtown Cat is a full sister to Air Khalifa, winner of the G3 Negishi Stakes and Princess Princess, third in the G3 Las Cienegas Stakes.

Discreet Cat is the sire of 31 Stakes winners. In addition to Trenchtown Cat, Discreet Cat is the sire of Secret Spice, winner of the G1 Beholder Mile and Discreet Angel, a two-time Champion in Puerto Rico.
