Trenchtown Cat determined winner of Sanibel Island Stakes

Daughter of Discreet Cat goes gate-to-wire to earn her first Stakes victory

Trenchtown Cat went to the lead right out of the starting gate and never looked back as she went on to win the Listed Sanibel Island Stakes by a neck at Gulfstream Park March 30.

It was the first Stakes victory for the promising daughter of Discreet Cat, who now has won two of three career starts.

Breaking alertly under jockey Irad Ortiz Jr., Trenchtown Cat took command right out of the starting gate. Allowed to set a comfortable pace throughout, Trenchtown Cat had plenty left in the tank to hold off the late bid of Vow to Recover to win by a neck.

Bred in Kentucky by Winchester Farm, Trenchtown Cat is out of Chez La Femme, a winning daughter of Afternoon Deelites. Trenchtown Cat is a full sister to Air Khalifa, winner of the G3 Negishi Stakes and Princess Princess, third in the G3 Las Cienegas Stakes.

Trenchtown Cat becomes the 30th Stakes winner for her sire, Discreet Cat. In addition to the Sanibel Island winner, Discreet Cat is the sire of Discreet Angel, a two-time Champion in Puerto Rico, and Dads Caps, two-time winner of the G1 Carter Handicap.
