Lord Simba roars to victory in the G3 Los Angeles Stakes

Son of Discreet Cat pulls away in the stretch to win under a hand-ride

Lord Simba made his Stakes debut a winning one when he cruised to a two-and-a-quarter-length victory in the G3 Los Angeles Stakes at Santa Anita.

The lightly-raced son of Discreet Cat has been first or second in five career starts for trainer Bob Baffert. In his race prior to the Los Angeles, Lord Simba took a six-furlong maiden special weight at Santa Anita by an eye-popping eight lengths.

Sitting just off the leader’s flank in second through the early stages of the race, Lord Simba swept to the front on the far turn. He continued to draw off through the stretch, eventually crossing the finish line to win easily.

Bred in Kentucky by Lynn B. Schiff, Lord Simba is a half-brother to multiple Stakes-placed Lady Of The Nile. Lord Simba’s dam, A.P. Cindy, is a half-sister to multiple Graded Stakes-winner, Romansh (by Bernardini).

Discreet Cat is the sire of 24 individual Stakes winners. Among his three G1 winners is Dads Caps, who landed the Carter Handicap two years in a row.
