Discreet Smile determined winner of San Jacinto Turf Stakes

Discreet Cat mare shines on Texas Champions Day at Sam Houston Race Park

Discreet Smile was always in control as she led gate-to-wire to score a hard-fought head victory in the San Jacinto Turf Stakes at Sam Houston Race Park March 20.

The five-year-old mare by Discreet Cat notched her second Stakes victory in the San Jacinto, following an earlier win in the Fiesta Mile Stakes at Retama Park. Discreet Smile has shown a true affinity for the turf, posting five wins in 10 starts on the lawn. She has finished in the money in eight of her 10 turf starts.

Discreet Smile was bred in Texas by her owner, Sylvia Baird, and is out of the mare Smiles Golden Song, herself a two-time winner of the Fiesta Mile during her racing days.

Discreet Cat is the sire of 35 Stakes winners. In addition to Discreet Smile, Discreet Cat has sired Secret Spice, winner of the G1 Beholder Mile; Trenchtown Cat, winner of the Sanibel Island and Ana T. Stakes and Discreet Angel, a two-time Champion in Puerto Rico.
