Sayaad goes gate-to-wire in the Dance of Life Stakes

Becomes Street Sense's eleventh Stakes winner

Shadwell Stable’s Sayaad showed true class as he made the one-mile Dance of Life Stakes look easy at Saratoga.  Up against five others, he broke well and immediately went to the front and set a quick pace.  He continued to extend his advantage with five furlongs to run, and proved too tough to catch as he passed the wire over four lengths clear.

Bred by Vision Sales LLC, he was bought by Shadwell for $450,000 at the 2010 Keeneland November Sale.  He is the third foal out of Time For A Crown by Time For A Change. A half-brother to Graded-placed Coronet of a Baron, Sayaad is also from the family of Bernardini’s G1-winner A Z Warrior.

Street Sense, by the sensational Street Cry, has had eight Stakes winners so far in 2013 who together have had 12 Stakes wins.  He is currently leading the Third-Crop Sire list by number of Stakes winners and total earnings, with fellow Darley-sires Hard Spun and Discreet Cat just behind him.  His top runners include G1 winner Aubby K, G2 winner/G1-placed Unlimited Budget, and G3 winners Cigar Street and Ice Cream Silence.
