Lion roars to victory

Storming Home two-year-old claims second Stakes success; G1 place for Fantastic Light four-year-old

Storming Home’s two-year-old son Lion Tamer claimed the second Listed victory of his career when winning the Listed Champagne Stakes at Ellerslie on Saturday.

Out of the Generous mare Lioness, he was bred in New Zealand by P H P Bayly and also won the Counties Challenge Stakes on his first racecourse outing in November. Lion Tamer is one of five Stakes winners for his sire, including the G2 Ribblesdale Stakes winner Flying Cloud.

The G1 Doncaster Mile at Randwick in Australia saw a third place finish for Fantastic Light four-year-old Brilliant Light.

The gelding is enjoying something of a purple patch having won the G2 Ajax Stakes last month at Rosehill, a victory which he followed up with success in last Saturday’s Listed Parma Stakes.
