Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense to stand at Darley in Japan in 2013

Darley have announced that Street Sense, a sensational performer in a truly exceptional generation and the only horse ever to complete the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile-Kentucky Derby double, will stand at their stud in Japan in 2013.

Crowned Eclipse Champion Juvenile following his ten-length victory in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, Street Sense also won the prestigious G1 Travers Stakes at three and was second in the G1 Preakness Stakes – the second of America’s Triple Crown races.

A son of the outstanding Street Cry, Street Sense has made a great start to his stud career, siring G1 fillies Miss Netta and Aubby K, G2 colt Street Life, G3 winners Castaway and Motor City, plus a further 10 Black type performers.

In Japan he has already made his mark. Street Sense has sired four winners from six runners including the impressive Hyacinth Stakes victor Fleet Street and Knowledge, who was second in the Niigata Nisai Stakes and is one of the leading juveniles in Japan.

Kenichiro Mishima, Darley’s President in Japan, said, “We are delighted to offer breeders in Japan the opportunity to send their mares to a stallion of the calibre of Street Sense. He was a truly outstanding racehorse and has made a very promising start to his stud career.”

His fee will be set at a later date.
