Rapier, a juvenile son of first-crop sire Tower Of London, became his sires' first JRA winner on Saturday, 29 June when making all the running at Kokura. Sent to the front straight from the stalls in the 1200m turf contest, he only needed a hand ride to record an easy two-and-a-half length triumph.
Bred by Tomina Bokujo, Rapier is the first winner bred out of the Empire Maker mare Annatorte, who is herself a daughter of the Black Type winner Couverture.
Tower Of London is a Champion that won Group races as a two, three, and four-year-old from 1200m to 1600m. The son of Raven’s Pass is a track record holder in the G2 Sankei Sho Centaur Stakes and he also was the dominant speed horse of his year, winning the G1 Sprinters Stakes. His first crop race this season with Rapier becoming his third individual winner.
