Promising start for Pyro

With eight winners or placed horses from his first nine runners, Pyro’s first crop look impressive already

Pyro’s first crop of two-year-olds are now making their racecourse debuts and they have made a great impression so far, with the Darley stallion recording eight winners or placed horses from his first eight runners.

Missy Trick became his first winner in May, winning over 1200m at Monbetsu Racecourse by no fewer than seven lengths. Missy Trick was bred by Mishima Bokujo(Urakawa-cho) and is out of Deep Eye (Fuji Kiseki).

The following month, Rinno For Maria was victorious over the same course and distance, winning in impressive style to become the second winner for her young sire. She was bred by Manabu Satake and is out of Umahitosuji (Tale of the Cat).

Pyro increased his winners’ tally to three on 11 July when his daughter Shark Fang made a successful debut at Oi Racecourse. Bred by Motomichi Bokujo, she is out of the Amber Shadai mare North Song.

Pyro was himself a hugely talented two-year-old, finishing second in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and the G1 Champagne Stakes, before winning three Group races at three and the G1 Forego Stakes at four. He stands at Darley Japan at a fee of 1.5 million yen.
