New JRA winner for Pyro

Maple Legend is successful at Nakayama to become his sire’s seventh winner

First-season sire Pyro has made an excellent start with his runners and on 8 September his son Maple Legend broke his maiden on his racecourse debut, winning the 1800m maiden at Nakayama.

Breaking well from the gate, the Yoshitada Munakata-trained colt was always prominent and laying down his challenge approaching the final turn and ran on well to win by half a length.

Bred by Masaichiro Abe, Maple Legend is the first winner out of the Stakes-placed Special Week mare Hishi Shinei.

Pyro has now sired seven individual winners, including the progressive JRA winner Louis Kazuma; and Shigeru Kaga – who won at Kokura on his racecourse debut.
