G3 first and third for Pyro

Kenshinko easily wins the Leopard Stakes with Godolphin’s Blank Cheque in third

Pyro has a new star performer as his three-year-old son Kenshinko broke the track record when landing the G3 Leopard Stakes at Niigata. Sent to the front early in the 1800m contest, he never saw another rival, quickening clear in the straight to beat Miyaji Kokuo by two-and-a-half lengths with his paternal half-sister Blank Cheque back in third.

Bred by Nicks Co Ltd, Kenshinko is a son of the Cryptic Rascal mare Matriarca, who won ten times at distances ranging from 1200m to 1600m.

Pyro is one of Japan’s premier dirt stallions and currently sits fourth in Japan’s sire rankings on that surface by prize money in 2020, a position he also filled in 2019. Pyro has sired 418 individual winners at an impressive 72% strike rate to runners.
