Xaaravid too good in Carbine Club

Xaar gelding brings up Stakes winner 28 for his G1-winning sire

Recording his eight career win and his first at Stakes level, the George Daly-trained Xaaravid became the 28th individual Stakes winner for his sire Xaar, with a half length victory over last season's G3 RJ Peter Stakes winner Elliotto in the Listed Carbine Club Stakes in Perth, Australia on November 20.

Jumping from the inside gate, jockey Jarrad Noscke always had the gelding travelling well and allowed the four-year-old to make his run as the field headed for home. In recording victory, Xaaravid took his career earnings just shy of the A$400,000 mark.

Bred by Ms EE Giles, Xaaravid is the fourth foal of the Encosta de Lago mare Avid, a half-sister to Stakes performer Oronoko. Xaaravid is from the family of G1 winner Rom’s Stiletto, G3 winners New Smyrna and Spirited One as well as fellow Stakes performers Rockettes, Sabotic, Danzigs Silver and Strata Title.

Xaar has now sired 12 individual Black type performers this year, six of whom have been successful at Stakes level. Represented by G1 performers Balthazaar’s Gift, Xtension and Wake Up Maggie, Xaar has now sired 11 Group winners and a further 17 horses that have won at Listed level.
