Two new winners for Admire Moon

Elixir and Miracle Moon both victorious on a successful weekend for the young Darley sire

Admire Moon, who enjoyed a superb first season in 2011 – siring 15 individual winners including two Group winners, increased his 2012 tally of winners to nine at the weekend when two of his first crop broke their maidens.

On 17 March, Elixir landed the six-furlong maiden at Nakayama in Sheikh Mohammed’s colours, winning by a neck from Esperanza City. The pair of colts were three lengths clear of the third-placed horse Kurino Hanamichi.

Bred by Grand Stud, Elixir is the seventh winner from seven foals to race out of Secregold, a half-sister to Gone West.

Just a day later, filly Miracle Moon made a successful three-year-old debut when taking the maiden (also run over six furlongs) at Chukyo by half a length.

Miracle Moon is out of the Champion mare North Flight, now dam of seven winners including Black type performer and sire Miscast, and Stakes producer Vermeer Blue.

Admire Moon, who stands at Darley in Japan at a fee of 4 million yen, is also sire of G2 winner and G1-placed colt Leo Active, plus G3 winner Fine Choice.
