Son of Xaar adds further Black type to his record

The Cheka lands Listed Cammidge Trophy in the UK

The Cheka, a G3-winning son of Xaar, added further Black type to his record on 31 March with a convincing win in the Listed Cammidge Trophy at Doncaster in the United Kingdom.

Settled off the early pace under jockey Neil Callan, The Cheka quickened impressively in the closing stages to sweep past Jimmy Styles (who won this race last year) and win by three quarters of a length.

Bred by James Mitchell, The Cheka is one of three winners from three foals to race out of Veiled Beauty (Royal Academy), herself a half-sister to the dam of multiple G1 winner and Champion Regal Parade. They are from the family of Xaar’s own sire Zafonic.

Xaar, who stands at Darley in Japan at a fee of 0.5 million yen, is also sire of G1 winner Xtension and a further 11 individual Group winners
