Sajjhaa wins G1 Jebel Hatta

Daughter of King’s Best remains unbeaten at Meydan

King's Best’s daughter Sajjhaa has enjoyed a truly outstanding Dubai Carnival and rounded off a superb night for Godolphin when landing the G1 Jebel Hatta to become the fourth Stakes winner on the day for the home team.

Settled in fourth position under William Buick, the six-year-old mare looked to have some work to do halfway down the home straight but once a gap appeared, she surged to the front to become the eighth G1 winner for her sire.

Sajjhaa has now won on eight occasions and may now return to Europe, before a possible trip to North America for the latter part of the season.

Bred by Darley, she is out of the winning Darshaan mare Anaamil, herself a daughter of G3 winner and G1 Epsom Oaks third Noushkey.

King’s Best, who is standing at Darley in Japan for the first time this year at a fee of 1.5 million yen, is also sire of seven G1 winners including outstanding Epsom Derby and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Workforce, and Eishin Flash, winner of the Japan Derby and Tenno Sho.
