New Stakes winner for Xaar

Joku records an impressive victory in the Listed Monashee Mountain Bernborough Handicap

Joku, a five-year-old son of Darley stallion Xaar, recorded his first Black type win in style on 26 December, running out the easy winner of the A$200,000 Listed Monashee Mountain Bernborough Handicap at Doomben in Australia.

Positively ridden, Joku was never far from the pace and making his move at the top of the straight, ran on well to win by a length and a quarter.

Owned and bred by Goree Stud, Joku is out of the Pine  Bluff mare Biru Lang, who has produced three winners from three foals to race including multiple winner Maliwanag – who is by fellow Darley Japan stallion Fantastic Light.

Xaar has now sired ten Black type performers this year, including G2-winning and G1-placed juvenile Xtension and fellow G2 winners Balthazaar’s Gift and Seattle Ice. He stands at Darley Japan at a fee of ¥1 million.
