Kitasan Suzuran wins well at Kokura

Daughter of Alkaased impresses in Allowance race over 1200m

Kitasan Suzuran, a daughter of Alkaased, recorded her second career victory on Saturday March 19, when landing a useful Allowance race over 1200m on the turf. A juvenile winner at Kyoto, she only raced once late in her three-year-old campaign and has improved with every start since her prolonged absence, winning her third one here by half-a-length.

Owned and bred by Ono Shoji, she is out of the Stakes winning Fuji Kiseki mare, Kitasan Hibotan, winner of the Fantasy Stakes at Kyoto in 2001 and a close relative of multiple stakes winner Kitasan Channel.

Alkaased, who stands this season for 0.8 million yen, was the fastest ever winner of the Japan Cup and is proving to be a reliable source of siring winners, with Kitasan Suzuran being his 17th already in 2011.
