Excellent Sunday for Admire Moon

Moon Crest wins the Port Island Stakes at Hanshin while Once In A Moon is an excellent third in the G1 Sprinters Stakes

Admire Moon enjoyed an excellent Sunday, 1 October with his runners in both Stakes races either winning or running brilliant races.

Running over a mile at Hanshin, Moon Crest became a new Stakes winner for his sire when landing the Listed Port Island Stakes. Now the winner of six of his 33 starts, the Mishima Bokujo-bred gelding triumphed by one-and-a-quarter lengths.

Admire Moon had already sired a G1-winning sprinter this season in Seiun Kosei, and he can now add another G1-performing sprinter to his C.V. through his daughter Once In A Moon. The winner of the Listed Toki Stakes on her last start, she ran a superb race to finish third, beaten less than a length behind Red Faix at Nakayama.

Bred by Okada Stud, Once In A Moon has won six races in 16 career starts.

Admire Moon is having an excellent 2017. He is currently sitting seventh in the Japanese turf sires table with him being one of very few stallions to have an average earnings index higher than two.
