Darley in Japan announces stud fees for the 2016 season

Darley has announced the fees for the five stallions that will stand at their stud in Japan for the 2016 season.

King’s Best, whose first Japan-bred crop will run in 2016, remains at a fee of 2.5 million yen. His first yearlings in Japan have been very well received and he is of course already a proven sire, having been responsible for Derby winners both in Japan and the UK.

Admire Moon has sired a number of high-quality horses from his latest two-year-old crop, with many showing Classic potential. His 2016 fee will be 2.0 million yen.

Pyro becomes more popular year on year thanks to his high ratio of winners. His offspring are also known for their versatility, performing on both the turf and the dirt. His fee for 2016 is 2.0 million yen.

Dubawi’s Dubai World-Cup winning son Monterosso will see his first runners next year and will stand at a fee of 1.5 million yen. He is one of best sons of world-leading sire Dubawi, whose own stud fee in 2016 equates to 41 million yen.

The ever-popular Furioso, who has covered more than 100 mares in each of his first three seasons, will stand at 0.5 million yen.

Shotaro Kajiya, Darley’s Nominations Manager in Japan, said, “We have a proven stallion in King’s Best, whose first Japanese crop will make their racecourse debuts in 2016, plus the very popular Pyro, who has already sired an impressive number of winners.

Admire Moon has sired some very high quality horses this year, many of whom are on their way to the Classics.

In addition to our proven stallions, we also have some exciting younger stallions in Monterosso, whose sire is the great European stallion Dubawi. Monterosso and Furioso will both have their first runners next year.

While our lineup is the same as 2015, the quality of our stallions has undoubtedly been raised and we are very happy to offer this superb group of stallions to our clients. We thank them for their support and look forward to an exciting year at the races in 2016.”
