Archimedes triumphs in G3 Asahi Challenge Cup

Darley homebred becomes the fourth Group winner for Admire Moon

Four-year-old Admire Moon colt Archimedes has had an outstanding year on the track and on 7 December he maintained his 2013 unbeaten record in tremendous style when landing the G3 Asahi Challenge Cup at Hanshin.

In winning the nine-furlong contest by a length from Kawakita Fujin, he became the fourth individual Group winner for his sire.

Bred by Darley, Archimedes is out of the Seeking The Gold mare Archeology, a full sister to G3 winner Golden Velvet and a half-sister to G1 winner Sky Mesa. Archeology has a two-year-old colt by first-season sire Pyro and a full sister to Archimedes, born on 25 February of this year.

Admire Moon has had another successful year, also siring G2 winner Hakusan Moon - last seen finishing second in the G1 Sprinters Stakes at Nakayama. He has a further five runners to have placed at Black type level this year.
