Making his first start since transferring to JRA, and his first start on turf, two-year-old colt A Shin Deed landed the G3 Hakodate Nisai Stakes on Sunday, 7 July, taking his record to two wins from just three starts.

Trained by Ryuji Okubo, A Shin Deed made all the running, extending his advantage round the home turn and going on to win comfortably by two lengths under Rachel King in the 1200m contest.

Bred by Shoji Yamada, the promising colt is out of winning King Kamehameha mare A Shin M D, making him a half-brother to Listed winner T O Stealth.

Standing for 1.5 million Yen, Fine Needle was the JRA Champion Sprinter, and has sired Group winners in each of his first three crops with A Shin Fencer (2020), Culture Day (2021), and Abu Qir Bay (2022), who recently landed his first Group success in the G3 Aoi Stakes at Kyoto.
