New Black type winner for Fantastic Light

Tottie takes the G3 Suwannee River Stakes at Gulfstream Park

Darley Japan stallion Fantastic Light opened his 2010 Stakes winners account in fine style on 6 February when his four-year-old daughter Tottie landed the $125,000 Suwannee River Stakes at Gulfstream Park in the United States.

Settled in second position behind early leader In My Glory (who was previously G2 placed), Tottie began to make her move approaching the final turn and taking the lead in the home straight, ran on impressively to win the nine-furlong contest by three quarters of a length.

This was her second consecutive victory at the Florida track, having won an allowance race over eight and a half furlongs last month. She remains unbeaten since transferring to the US, having been trained previously in the United Kingdom where she won once and was also placed in the Listed Oaks Trial at Lingfield.

Bred by Lawn Stud, she is out of the Stakes-winning Komaite mare Katy Nowaitee and is from the family of G1 winners Untold and Sally Brown.

Fantastic Light, who stands at Darley Japan at a fee of 2 million yen, is now sire of 23 individual Black type winners including G1 winners Mission Critical and Scintillo.
